Inspired by Scottish mythology and filled with found family, slow burn romance, and book-based magic, The Arcane Archives is a dark academia fantasy adventure from a brilliant new talent.
Astra is an Archivist, tasked with keeping the life books safe in the Arcane Archives. When her twin brother Orion goes missing, she is desperate for answers and steals his life book from the Archives. But an ominous blacked-out page blocks his recent memories, revealing only fragments of a clue, including a vision of a green-eyed man she’s never seen before . . .
When the mysterious man, Castor, appears at her place of work, Astra seizes the chance to investigate. Searching the Archives for his life book, she discovers there isn’t one. Everyone has a life book – why doesn’t he? Worse still, Castor claims he’s never even met Orion.
Together with her friends – a banshee, a demon cat and a sarcastic bartender – Astra and Castor set off on an ill-fated journey to the Isle of Skye, the last place Orion was seen. But as the search for her brother continues, they soon uncover deep conspiracies and dark secrets that threaten everything Astra thought she knew about her world.
Perfect for fans of the dark academic vibes in Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, the mystery of The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young and the Supernatural TV series.
